"...; Art has quite another aim- the objective truth..." -Sir Herbert Read, The Realist Heresy, 1952
"Truth is passion. One cannot learn it; one must possess it." -Ernst Toller
Functional Work
All work under this heading is fired to a maturity temperature, which renders the work food safe, dishwasher safe and oven safe. I use mainly stonewear clay for utility work but like porcelain clay for some glazes.
Decorative Work
Currently, this heading represents much of my newest work due to the use of floral motifs. I am slowly working these designs onto the functional work so they are tied by design. I am using a selection of North Carolina flora but can design from other zones or personal favorites as requested.
Sculptural Work
This heading is very fluid as the art has many directions and influences. I constantly strive for truth and irony in the work and hope to communicate this to the viewer.
All work is signed by traditional pottery stamps rather than by signature, making provenance more assured and in-keeping with ceramic tradition. Prices do not include shipping. Returns are accepted in exchange for the original price of the art within thirty days of the sale, shipping charges are not refunded or reimbursed for return. All work is hand made and therefore unique. Slight variations in size and color can occur and are part of the studio process and hand-made market.
